HUA Profile

  • Harokopio University is a public university dedicated to promoting research and learning in a small, well focused set of intellectual areas, of which Informatics plays a key role in the University’s strategy.
  • The University originates from an educational institution first established in 1929 and gained the status of University in 1991, realizing the vision of national benefactor Panagis Harokopos.
  • The University’s excellent campus facilities houses four academic departments:
    • Department of Home Economics & Ecology
    • Department of Nutrition & Dietetics
    • Department of Geography
    • Department of Informatics & Telematics

All departments offer four year studies, leading to B.Sc. Degrees and postgraduate programmes that result in Master and PhD degrees

  • The Department was founded in the summer of 2006
    • Students are admitted since September 2007 and the Department is ranked high in the National Admission Examinations preference order
  • It is located in a newly built 5 floor building, close to Harokopio University main campus and the Metro station of El. Venizelos (Tavros)

    • Advancement of the Science of Informatics, mainly in the field of network-centered systems and related e-services.

    • Telematics areas, related to network and Ιnternet technologies
    • Their applications in areas such as e-business, e-learning, e-government, e-transport and e-health
    • National and Εuropean EC-funded projects (e.g. ONELAB, Ceasefire, TEACHING, etc.)
    • Research cooperation with Research Institutions, Universities and IT companies
    • Participation in international standardization organizations

    • AI, Machine Learning, parallel and distributed systems, edge & cloud computing
    • Data and knowledge management
    • Information workflow management systems, web services and applications in business processes
    • Modern electronic services & applications (intelligent transport systems, e-health, e-commerce, e-government)

HUA will assist on developing advanced AI-based technologies (multivariate data analysis) for realizing biomarker detection in the collected sensorial (timeseries) data streams
